What To Expect When You’re Expecting [Me To Be Your Documentary Wedding Photographer] I believe that your wedding deserves to be lived, not performed. It’s likely the one moment in your lives where everyone you love will be together, celebrating your relationship. They want you to experience it with them, and I do too (plus, it makes for the best wedding photos ). Below, you’ll learn more about how I work as a candid documentary wedding photographer and what to expect from start to finish.
Before you book, we’ll connect through a call or email to discuss your plans, priorities, and what matters most to you. If we decide to work together, we’ll schedule another call to talk and discuss your plans in further detail. Getting to know each other can be an important part of creating photos that feel true to you. As your wedding day approaches, I’ll go over your timeline with you and help you build a family photo list that fits seamlessly into your celebration, ensuring everything flows naturally. If possible, we can meet up for an engagement session at no extra cost. It’s a great chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and enjoy a coffee or drink together.

To ensure your memories are safe, every photo is backed up to multiple hard drives and secure online storage immediately after your wedding. Within 24-48 hours, you’ll receive a preview of select images. Your full set of edited, high-resolution wedding photos will be delivered within 3-4 weeks via a password-protected online wedding gallery, licensed to print, and ready for you to download and share with friends and family. Shortly after, you’ll receive a soft-cover coffee table magazine featuring select images.
What's your personality like?
I take a calm, unobtrusive approach, blending into the background to document your day as it naturally unfolds. My goal is to capture authentic moments without interfering while making sure people are comfortable enough around me to be themselves. I’ve been called human Prozac on more than one occasion.
How are you different from other photographers?
I focus on capturing candid, real moments rather than posing or staging shots. My goal is to create a collection of images that feel true to you and won’t look like any other wedding but yours.
What is your editing style/process?
My editing style is true-to-life. I strive to reflect the changing environment throughout the day, ensuring your photos look and feel like your real wedding. Each image is individually edited by hand, treated as a piece of art that stands on its own. My color grading for digital images closely mirrors the film stocks that I use, including Kodak Portra, Kodak Gold, Fujifilm 400h, and Kodak Tri-X. For my film work, I use a trusted local lab for processing, ensuring the highest quality with no risk of it being lost in transit. After processing, I personally scan each negative and convert them into positive images. This hands-on process ensures that every one of your film scans accurately reflects the characteristics of the film stock.
Is it important that we meet with you?
Meeting in person or virtually isn’t required but highly recommended. It’s a great way to get to know each other and make sure we’re aligned on your vision for the day. I believe that it’s important for you to be able to build a rapport with your wedding photographer, especially since we’re with you more than almost anyone else on the day.
How much does wedding photography cost, and whats included?
Wedding photography coverage starts at $6,500. This includes full-day coverage on digital and film, carefully curated and edited photos, a high-resolution online gallery licensed to download and print, a custom soft-cover coffee table magazine and more. Custom packages are available to fit the unique details of your day. I’d love to chat about your wedding plans—reach out through my inquiry form.
How does your documentary wedding photography approach work with videographers?
I suggest choosing someone who shares the same candid, documentary vision that you and I do - staying unobtrusive and allowing the day to flow naturally.
How do you approach family photos at weddings?
Family portrait sessions should mirror the rest of your day—easygoing and full of meaningful moments. We’ll plan ahead and create a list of must-have groupings to keep everything flowing smoothly. That way, you and your loved ones can enjoy the moment and return to the celebration without missing a beat.
Where should we get ready?
The space where you get ready can play a big role in your wedding photos. Choose a location with natural light and enough room for you to feel comfortable. If your venue isn’t ideal, I recommend considering your home, a family member's home, an Airbnb, or a hotel suite with large windows. Overall, wherever you think you'll feel most at ease is going to be the best option.
Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely! Whether it’s the next state over or a destination wedding across the globe, I’m happy to be there. Travel costs will depend on the location and can be discussed during booking.
